In
the 'Heart of the Bluegrass', Versailles offers some of the

THE CASTLE
Located
on US 60, the castle is an unique structure with 8 turrets.
It was begun in 1970s by a developer to be his home, but the
interior was never completed. It has been recently sold,and
future plans for its use include an inn and a full-service
restaurant. It is still photographed by visitors daily.

DISTILLERIES
Visit
the National Historic Landmark, the famous Labrot & Graham,
home of Woodford
Reserve Bourbon Distillery. Tours are offered daily,
and 60,000 visitors annually marvel at the beauty and enjoy
a taste of the finest bourbon in the world. Drive the beautiful
winding roads to Woodford Reserve and enjoy the beautiful
scenery Woodford County has to offer.

EDUCATION
The
Woodford County
Library, the Chamber
of Commerce, and the Woodford
County Historical Society are here to make your visit
as nice as possible. All offer extensive information
about history, activities, and tourism that should intensify
any visit.

FISHING
The
Kentucky River and the Woodford Lake offer great spots to
fish like an expert or just enjoy a relaxing day! Whether
you have a boat or just a couple of poles, Versailles has
a spot for you!

GALLERIES
While
in Versailles, take a moment or two to enjoy wonderful works
of art! Steve Sawyer's 'Art
for God' studio is world-renowned and includes many pieces
of interesting works of art by the owner Sawyer. Also
world-renowned is the Heike
Pickett Gallery & Sculpture Garden. You can also
stop by the Paul Atkinson Gallery, new to downtown Versailles.
Both Paul & Heike have monthly changing exhibits. Experience
many special fine and folk art pieces with changing exhibits
monthly.
HORSES
There
are many different aspects to enjoying the horses of the Bluegrass.
Horse Farms tours offer a wonderful opportunity to look into
the detailed operation of some of the largest horse operations
in the nation. Enjoy a fun horse tour by Trolley
Ride through scenic Woodford County. While
touring horse farms, be sure to visit our newest local celebrity,
2004 Kentucky Derby Winner, Smarty Jones, standing stud at
Three Chimneys Farm.
Woodford County is also home to Lakeside
Arena the area's largest competitive horse show arena,
offering many new activities and shows each week. Don't
miss out on horse racing while visiting Central Kentucky.
Keeneland, located
just 10 minutes away in Lexington, is a great spot to enjoy
afternoon racing at its best. Meets are in April and
October each year.

Cornerstone
Pharmacy with the Two Sisters and a Temp Cafe has the only
old-time soda fountain in town. With the best hand-dipped
hard ice creams and flavored sodas, the Cafe produces many

in the newly renovated building on the corner of Lexington
Rd and Main St.

JOUETT
The
Jack
Jouett House, located off of McCowan's Ferry, is a restored
Federal cottage dating from 1793. It was built by Jouett,
a Revolutionary War hero who rode all night to save Governor
Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and other Virginia Legislators
from capture by the British. Captain Jouett was
known as the " Paul Revere of the South ". It is
now a museum and the site of shows and reenactments throughout
the year.
KENTUCKY
RIVER
A
wonderful spot that spans the length of Woodford County and
offers great opportunities for water sports, swimming, and
boating. Enjoy a fun-filled day of relaxing on the longest
river in Kentucky.

LIVELY
ENTERTAINMENT
There
is loads of fun and excitement to be had in Downtown Versailles
and surrounding areas! There is 1 summer festival to
celebrate the Farmer's Market, Parades for almost every occassion,
a festival for Homecoming, Midway's Annual Fall Festival,
Millville's Annual Hillbilly Daze, numerous Merchant Open
Houses, and new events occuring monthly! Plan on attending
one today!

MUSIC
Rock
and roll, jazz, Christian, and punk-alternative are only a
few types of music showcased at Marcelle's
on Main each week. Wednesday through Saturday nights,
new line-ups give crowds something to cheer about. It
is a smoke and alcohol free time that is perfect for all ages.

NAMES
There
are seven different locations in Wodford County that you can
visit! Millville, located off US 60 East, is home Woodford
Reserve and lovely scenic roads. Nonesuch, located off
HWY 33 and Ford's Mill, which is the home of Irish
Acres Gallery, an elegant antique and dining experience
and the Cummins Ferry Campground. It is located right on the
Kentucky River and offers RV hook-ups and spot rentals.
Mortonsville, located off HWY 33, is home to many local family
farms and the Jack
Jouett House. Pinckard, located off HWY 169, is
home to the wonderful Boyd's
Orchard. Midway,
located right off HWY 421, is home dozens of quaint shops
and restaurants, as well as, lovely horse farms. Pisgah,
located right behind the Castle, boasts historic cemeteries
and one of 'Kentucky's Most Scenic Byways'. Versailles
is home to a wonderful downtown, lovely retaurants, and great
times!

ORCHARDS
Take
a scenic drive out Hwy 33 and follow the large white signs
to Boyd Orchards
at 1396 Pinckard Pike. A great family farm and orchard
with a gift shop, fresh produce, apple picking, cafe, bakery,
corn maze, pumpkins and hay rides. It is perfect for
schools, groups and family outings.
PLAYS
Enjoy
Broadway-like plays right here in Versailles! The
Woodford County Theatrical Arts Association produces many
plays a year to sold-out audiences. With wonderful crews
and stellar casts, the plays are phenomenal and provide loads
of family fun.

Springs Art & Recreation Center, which is complete
with state of the art fitness equipment, a water park, and
swimming pools. Falling Springs is located in the Woodford
County Park on Hwy 62 right off of the new connector road.
The WC Park is also home to the Woodford County Fair held
annually each year in June, and also hosts basketball courts,
baseball & softball diamonds, and the high school football
& soccer stadium. For more recreation, you
can walk or bike on our wonderful trails or downtown tours,
or just enjoy a stroll in one of many parks. They are

SPORTS
There
are hundreds of Woodford County High School games to partake
in. It offers great family fun and also supports camaraderie
among friends and neighbors! Check out the schedule
and your favorite sport today! Versailles also offers

abilities regularly. Woodford Hills Country Club offers
great golf, food, and friends for members each year.

TRAINS
Visit
the Bluegrass Railroad Museum
at the Woodford Co. Park, on US 62. Enjoy a scenic ride
through the rolling hills and beautiful horse farms of central
Kentucky . Included is a museum and gift shop. It is open
weekends mid May-Oct. For the kid in all of us, don't
forget to stop by the Nostalgia
Station on Depot St, conveniently located off of N Main
St. It is filled with model trains and tracks that will
keep you and your family busy all afternoon!

HEADQUARTERS
Kentucky
Community Technical College System has already moved to
Versailles and inhabited the Texas Instruments Factory building
at 300 N Main St. The $7 million dollar renovation is
state of the art! It offers board rooms, conference
rooms, dozens of offices, and the most technological computer
and training equipment in the state. It is well worth
a look around!

VINEYARDS
You
can visit two exceptional local Woodford Vineyards & Wineries,
Equus Run Winery,
Wildside Vines,
and Castlehill Farm & Winery. Equus Run, located
in Midway, KY was recently awarded a CNN Award for one of
Americas Hidden Treasures and offers tastings, special events
and concerts, and a gift shop. Castle Hill, located
at 3560 Lexington Road and just West of the Castle, offers
a gift shop, tasting room, Kentucky artists and beautiful
views.
WILDLIFE
Buckley
Wildlife Sanctuary & Audubon Center and Buckley Hills
Audubon Society , located at 1305 Germany Rd, is a 374-acre
wildlife haven. It is operated by the National Audubon
Society and offers nature trails, bird watching, and special
events. Operational hours for the Sanctuary are Wed-Fri. 9-5
and Sat-Sun. 9-6 and for the Audubon Center Sat-Sun. 1-6.
