VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

(It takes many volunteers for the Christmas Parade to be successful.)

 

Events

These positions include many types of responsibilities. The initial planning, committees, and actual operations will be available for volunteers.

  • Preservation Week: May 7-13, 2006
    Farmers Market: Wednesday afternoons and Saturday Mornings, June-October
  • Twilight Festival: July 28, 2006
  • Homecoming Festival: September 17, 2006
  • Halloween: October 31, 2006
  • Christmas Open House: November 11-12, 2006
  • Christmas Parade: December 2, 2006
Assist in any event committee to plan, determine, and execute an event that brings people downtown Versailles.

Committees

Volunteers may join any one of these committees. The committees meet once a month and report back to the Board of Directors. These committees offer a voice and a change in the operations of downtown Versailles . There are four different committees and an opportunity for everyone to find their own passion for revitalizing Main Street.

Organization
Focuses on getting people working toward the same goals. This involves a volunteer driven organizational structure with a board and committees, working in conjunction with a Main Street Manager.
Design
On the physical aspects of downtown. Capitalizing on the best assets and improving the visual appeal of historic buildings and traditional downtown layouts with good sidewalks and lighting plus organized parking and signs.
Promotion 
Focuses on the marketing of downtown. By pointing out the unique characteristics, promoting a positive image and holding events that bring people to Main Street , the perception of downtown will improve.
Economic Restructuring
Focuses on improving the economic climate. This involves helping existing businesses to expand, recruiting new ones for the changing market and finding new ways to change underused buildings into productive property.

Assist in changing specific pages
Use creativity and imagination to attract new visitors to the website
Filing
Reports/Minutes/General
Newsletter Editor
Manage and support the monthly e-mail newsletter and the quarterly print newsletter
Brochure Assistance
Updating insert
Maintaining a relationship with current businesses
Business Retention
Keeping good contact and support with the downtown businesses. This may include weekly visits, assistance in Merchant activities, and planning and completion of seminars and programs.

Join in the day-to day operations that keep Vision Versailles 2000+ operable.

Board of Directors

These positions are voted on in March for the following year and include many detailed responsibilities. If you are interested in one of these positions, please let the Executive Director know immediately.

Education

The main mission of Vision Versailles 2000+ is to educate Versailles , Woodford County , and the state of Kentucky on why and how important that the Versailles downtown is. Supporting the mission and educating others is a daily challenge to overcome.

Community educator

Attending civic organizations, as well as, community events and fairs

This will enlighten the community on the fundamentals of Vision Versailles 2000+.

Youth Educator

Attending classrooms and school activities

This will support the mission of Vision Versailles 2000+ and educate the most important part of the community„the next generation to make community decisions.

Educate the community on one of the most important issues facing us today--preservation!
